Saturday 16th July 2011 Wooliana to Mary River Caravan Park

Headed out of Wooliana for Pine Creek then onto Mary River CP. It was a warm to hot day with a dry heat (which I prefer to humid, muggy conditions). The Mary River brochure isn’t exactly the same as the real thing but the staff are friendly and the amenities block is very clean and looked after.

Rafferty’s rules apply here as far as locating a site; park where you like. There are a few shady trees scattered around the dry camping area and finding a spot with power nearby wasn’t that easy.  Bobby was prepared with two long extension cords so we were set.  Water was another matter but the laundry’s nearby so buckets are the go.
I don’t like using the air-conditioner in the van very much but I was thankful that we had one – it got quite hot this afternoon. Bobby checked out the pool and once again it was cold but he did go in. I sat in the shade by the pool and did a crossword.

No phone or internet cover here but we’ve been told that a lot of other places have it. We thought that we’d be limited with staying in the national park with no power but we’ve found out by talking to other travellers that there are many commercial caravan parks with power, etc and I’d prefer to have power so hopefully we’ll be able to check in.
Roast for tea – delish!

Haven’t seen any mossies (yet) but we’ve killed lots of little bitey things. I am so over these bites!
